    Speaker Biography:

    Kerry Smith, Ph.D., is the Director of the Laboratory Approval and Testing Division (LATD).  LATD provides laboratory testing and approval services to facilitate domestic and international marketing of food and agricultural commodities.  Kerry was critical in the reorganization and standardization of the Agricultural Marketing Services’ (Agency) laboratory services.  She has led significant process and service enhancements, making LATD a leader in residue, mycotoxin, and adulteration testing.  In addition, LATD serves as the scientific arm of the Agency, providing subject matter expertise in many areas, including bioengineered foods and hemp production.  Kerry has worked for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for 15 years.

    Ms. Jamie M. Hasty is a Vice President with SESCO Management Consultants, Bristol, Tennessee and Richmond, Virginia. Jamie graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B.B.A in Human Resources Management. Her professional affiliations include the Society for Human Resource Management and various state Chambers of Commerce.

    Jamie is a Generalist consultant in all areas of human resource management with specialties in affirmative action, policy development, wage and hour accounting, employment regulation compliance, training and development, compensation and performance management systems, client representation with state and federal agencies like the Department of Labor, employee satisfaction assessments, executive screening and placement, and general human resources consulting. The variety of client engagements and daily interaction over the course of Jamie’s career enables her to provide practical, helpful and legal advice and support to clients in all industries throughout the country.

    She regularly conducts management training programs for clients and serves as guest speaker for state and national associations and Chambers of Commerce. Jamie is a certified trainer for Vital Learning Corporation and SESCO Leadership Institute. She is also a John C. Maxwell Coach, Trainer, Teacher and Speaker. Select topics of presentation include:

    Speaker Biography:

    Lowell Randel currently serves as Vice President of Government and Legal Affairs for the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA).  He is responsible for advancing the industry’s interests with the U.S. Congress and Administration and helps association members deal with regulatory compliance.  Lowell has over 24 years of experience working in Washington, DC ranging from private sector representation to government service.  

    Prior to joining GCCA, Lowell served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  While in this role, Lowell worked closely with the Secretary of Agriculture and across all USDA agencies to coordinate legislative policy and functioned as a primary contact between the Department and Congress.  

    Lowell holds a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and Master’s degree in agricultural development, both from Texas A&M University.  He also holds a Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law.

    Speaker Biography:
    Simon Choi is a Senior Policy Advisor with the Standards and Conformity Assessment Program at the Food and Drug Administration. He has led major public health projects and initiatives at the FDA for medical imaging, directed CT medical imaging safety investigations, and developed regulatory polices for Digital Health. Previously, Dr. Choi was Director of the Masters of Public Health Program at the University of Kansas Medical Center and served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine.
